This assay is useful for monitoring therapy for kidney stones and identifying increased urinary oxalate as a risk factor for stone formation. It also helps in the diagnosis of Primary or Secondary hyperoxaluria. Ingestion of Ascorbic acid may falsely elevate urinary oxalate excretion. |
