Usage: SOX2 is a marker of embryonic stem cell pluripotency that is associated with aggressive tumor behavior. It is an independent predictor of poor outcomes in stage I lung adenocarcinoma & may help to stratify patients at increased risk for recurrence. This test also helps in testicular tumors to distinguish between Seminoma and Embryonal carcinoma. All Seminomas & Choriocarcinomas are negative for SOX2 staining.
