Immunohistochemical staining for amyloid A (SAA) produces diffuse, extracellular staining in positive tissues and co-localizes with Congo Red apple-green birefringence. SAA-type amyloid is associated with chronic inflammatory conditions, such as Tuberculosis and Rheumatoid arthritis. Serum Associated Amyloid is useful in the identification and classification of amyloid subtypes in tissues. |
