Glypican-3 (GPC3) is a histochemical marker of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC). Primary liver cancer is of 3 types namely Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) & combined Hepatcellular & Cholangiocarcinoma (CHC). It is often difficult to distinguish these liver tumors. GPC3 is a sensitive & specific biomarker to identify the HCC component of CHC. |
