The association between the CYP3A5 genotype and tacrolimus pharmacokinetics is well established, and patients expressing functional CYP3A5 (carriers of the CYP3A5*1 allele; extensive metabolizer), require approximately double the starting drug dose. Carriers of CYP3A5*3/*3 or poor metabolizers require higher doses. |
