Systemic Sclerosis (SSc) belongs to the collagenases, a group of autoimmune connective tissue diseases that affect the skin and internal organs. Approximately 2-50 of 100,000 people suffer from SSc worldwide. The incidence amounts to 1-2 new cases per 100,000 people per year. The disease occurs mainly in middle adulthood. Women are affected 3 to 4 times more frequently than men. |
