Parietal cell antibodies are found in 70– 90% of patients with Pernicious anemia, 50% of individuals with Gastric atrophy without pernicious anemia, and up to 15% of the unselected adult population. This assay is useful for evaluating patients suspected of having Pernicious anemia or immune meditated deficiency of vitamin B12 with or without Megaloblastic anemia. |
