EX1507      MICRONUTRIENT DEFICIENCY SCREEN
Specimen: 2 mL (1.5 mL min.) serum from 1 Red Top (No Additive) tube. Separate serum from cells within 1 hour of collection. Protect from light by wrapping in aluminum foil AND 2 mL (1 mL min.) serum from 1 SST AND 3 mL (2 mL min.) serum from 1 metal-free White Top (Z-No Additive) tube. Ship refrigerated or frozen AND 4 mL (2 mL min.) of whole blood from 1 metal-free Royal Blue Top (K2EDTA) tube. Ship refrigerated. DO NOT FREEZE. Use powderless gloves during specimen collection. Ship at specified temperatures. Overnight fasting is mandatory.

Usage: Micronutrients though required in small amounts, are essential for the proper growth and development of the human body. Micronutrient deficiencies (popularly known as Hidden Hunger) affect health, learning ability as well as productivity contributing to malnutrition and underdevelopment.
