Legionella urinary antigen is useful in conjunction with other laboratory tests in the diagnosis of Legionnaires disease which is an acute febrile respiratory illness ranging in severity from mild illness to fatal pneumonia. Known risk factors of this disease are immunosuppression, smoking, alcohol, and concomitant pulmonary disease. |
