Double negative T cells (DNT cells) are a consistent finding in Autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome (ALPS). Patients with ALPS show an increase in a normally rare population of T cells that are TCRab positive but negative for both CD4 and CD8 co-receptors. It is not a confirmatory diagnostic test. Abnormal results should be confirmed by correlating clinical history along with genetic testing for the relevant gene mutations. |
