WT1 is a tumor suppressor gene involved in the development of Wilms’ tumor. The wild type of WT1 gene performs an oncogenic function. It has been identified as a molecular target for cancer immunotherapy, hence it is a must to test all Wilm’s tumors for expression of WT1. Recent studies have shown that WT1 plays an important role in disease progression & prognosis of malignancies such as Acute Myeloid Leukemia & Serous ovarian carcinoma. |
