STAT6 is a biomarker for Solitary fibrous tumors (SFT). Almost all SFTs harbor a NAB2-STAT6 fusion gene which is considered specific to this tumor type. SFT is an uncommon fibroblastic neoplasm that shows CD34 expression in the majority of cases but STAT6 is more accurate & sensitive especially to differentiate SFT from histologic mimics. |
