SOX-11 is a transcription factor involved in embryonic neurogenesis and tissue remodeling. Nuclear SOX-11 is expressed in most B and T cell lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphomas and a proportion of Burkitt lymphomas, but only weakly expressed in some Hairy cell leukemias. Mantle cell lymphomas (MCL) show SOX-11 expression and it has been suggested to correlate with overall survival. Hence this essay is mainly useful for the identification of Mantle cell lymphomas. |
