| Usage: |
SOX-10 plays a critical role in the differentiation, maturation & maintenance of Schwann cells & melanocytes. Expression of SOX-10 is seen in neural crest-derived cells and hence it is positive in nerve sheath tumors, granular cell tumors & melanocytic tumors. It is strongly & diffusely expressed by Spindle cell / Desmoplastic melanoma & thus helps to distinguish Melanoma from the scar. All peripheral nerve sheath tumors whether benign or malignant express SOX-10. |
