Usage: PAX-8 is a member of a paired box gene family of transcription factors involved in kidney & thyroid cell development. It is expressed in a high percentage of renal neoplasms including both malignant Renal Cell Carcinoma and benign Oncocytomas. It is also expressed in ovarian carcinomas, papillary thyroid carcinomas & tumors of Mullerian origin.
