CDK-4 (Cyclin-dependent kinase-4) is one of the proteins involved with cell cycle progression and is encoded by a gene at chromosome 12q13. It is overexpressed in cases of Well-differentiated liposarcoma & Dedifferentiated liposarcoma. Benign lipomatous lesions, Pleomorphic liposarcoma & Myxoid liposarcoma are negative for CDK4. The best diagnostic use of this marker is to distinguish between Dedifferentiated liposarcomas from High-grade sarcomas. |
