IgG immunoglobulin comprises 4 subclasses mainly IgG-1 to IgG-4 of which 65% component is IgG-1. Decreased levels are seen in cases of Hypogammaglobulinemia. Deficiency of IgG-1 is seen in patients with severe immunoglobulin deficiency. IgG-2 deficiency leads to recurrent infections like Sinusitis, Otitis & Pulmonary infections. This test is especially useful in patients with clinical evidence of Immunodeficiency with normal IgG levels in serum. |
