The haptoglobin Hp 1/2 polymorphism has been associated with the prevalence of infections, autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and other disorders, thus suggesting a broad clinical significance. The Hp 2-2 phenotype was overrepresented in patients with more severe forms of myocardial infarction. This test is useful for genotyping of the Haptoglobin gene. |
