MDM2 gene is located in the chromosomal region 12q15 & its overexpression is associated with Well-differentiated Liposarcoma, which includes Atypical Lipomatous Tumor (WDL/ALT) and Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma (DDLS). These tumors can be difficult to distinguish morphologically from other high-grade sarcomas and benign tumors. A high proportion of parosteal or low-grade central Osteosarcomas also show MDM2 gene amplification. |
