| Usage: |
Deletions in 22q11.2 have been associated with several disorders including DiGeorge syndrome (DGS) and Velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS). In this disorder a small part of chromosome 22 is missing, resulting in multiple developmental defects such as cleft palate, poor immune system, heart defects, distinctive facial features & low calcium in the blood. The inheritance of 22q11.2 deletion syndrome is autosomal dominant but more often the deletion is a random event. |
