| Usage: | Coccidioidomycosis is a fungal infection acquired by inhalation of C.immitis. It may be self-limiting or lead to Chronic pneumonia with the cavitary disease. It may disseminate beyond the lungs to involve multiple organs including meninges. The antibody levels may persist even after the infection has resolved. False negatives may occur in patients with solitary pulmonary lesions. Patients with active Histoplasmosis may generate cross-reactions. Elevated serum antibodies may be present in patients with Meningeal coccidioidomycosis. | ||||||
