Chikungunya virus is transmitted by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito leading to Dengue-like symptoms. However, no hemorrhagic manifestations are seen. PCR assay detects the presence of the Chikungunya virus much earlier than the appearance of IgM antibodies. |
