| Usage: |
Carotenes are precursors of Vitamin A and the highest levels are found in individuals ingesting large amounts of carrots. Moderate elevations are seen in patients with Diabetes mellitus, Myxedema, Hyperlipidemia, and Chronic Nephritis. Decreased levels are seen in nutritional deficiencies including Anorexia nervosa, Malabsorption, and Steatorrhea. Individuals with Lycopenemia show normal carotene levels. |
