Blastomycosis, caused by the fungus Blastomyces dermatitidis, occurs most commonly in men aged 20-69 years. Infection may be transient or lead to chronic progressive pulmonary disease. Cross-reactions are observed in patients with Histoplasmosis and Coccidioidomycosis. |
