This assay is capable of simultaneous detection and identification of multiple bacterial, viral, and yeast nucleic acids directly from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). It rapidly detects DNA/ RNA of 14 different kinds of bacteria, viruses, and fungus responsible for causing disease in the CNS. It has a high sensitivity of 94.2% and a specificity of 99.8%. This is FDA approved multiplex film array test that works in a closed system by isolating, amplifying, and detecting nucleic acid target genes found in the 14 organisms listed. |
