BCR-ABL is a fusion gene formed by the re-arrangement of breakpoint cluster region (BCR) on chromosome 22 with the ABL proto-oncogene on chromosome 9 leading to the formation of the Philadelphia chromosome. This re-arrangement is seen in almost 95% of patients with CML. This test detects major, minor and micro translocations of BCR-ABL. |
