17-ketosteroids (17-KS) is derived from the adrenal cortex and testes and are excreted in the urine. These are metabolites of adrenal and gonadal androgenic steroids. In men, 60-70% & in women nearly 100% of these are produced in the adrenal cortex. They are useful in evaluating gonadal and adrenal disorders. |
